Summer 2025 Trends to look out for

Summer 2025 is officially here! I’m currently soaking up the last weeks of our time living in Germany. My European Summer is coming to an end, just as it’s starting. However I’m looking forward to doing some bi-coastal travel over the next few months before we arrive to our next assignment: Washington DC!

I’ve been doing some research for you all, and here are the standout Summer 2025 trends to keep an eye out for.

Gingham Party

Gingham print is BIG this Summer. Some call it picnic chic, or Summer nostalgia, however this elevated summer choice of fabric can be layered with other trends and is generally easy to style. The fabric is not only versatile, but breathable in warm Summer climates. My top pick would be this maxi skirt set from Target seen below.

Dressed in Linen

I can’t get enough of Linen this season, like I mentioned in my last blog you can read here, Linen is a staple of Summer wardrobe that can be worn year after year again. All the dresses above are from Zara but my personal favorite is the midi length linen dress that I personally own, and found at a Zara in Paris. The neckline and button details of this dress provide a romantic but slightly more structured silhouette compared to some of the ultra flowy choices above.

Mesh Mesh Baby

I first saw the mesh shoe trend in Paris, and initially I couldn’t wrap my brain around it. The last time I wore a mesh shoe was the Summer of 2015 in an open bootie that everyone seemed to wear at a nightclub. Fast forward 10 years later the more I see it, the more I want it. I think you have to find the right style that’s comfortable for you. There’s hope- we are seeing various colors from pastels to metallic, and even jelly forms. I love a gold sandal in the Summer, so I’m opting for this gold option from amazon that would pair beautifully with any dress from the Linen trend.

A Bohemian Dream

Boho chic, Boho romanic, whatever you want to call it- it’s a Bohemian dream. This trend is easy to wear with so many different variations and fabrics to choose from. We are seeing various elements such as lace, crochet, suede, fringe and ruffles. Also think airy dresses and skirts. Zara has some beautiful picks, along with VICI Collection and Nordstrom. My top pick would be this pistachio green boho maxi dress from ASOS seen below.

Accessories

Let’s talk about this: there are several accessory trends I’m going to break down, but we are going to start with my favorite- the square scarf. I heard about this trend back in the Spring and decided to give it a try. All you need is one to two scarfs to start with, and rotate depending on your style for the day. You can style it by tying it around your neck, tie it around your wrist layered with bangles, and I’ve also seen it tied to a purse. It’s also the perfect “bad hair day” accessory, as you can wear it as a head scarf, turn it into a headband or tie it around your ponytail. Amazon.com has various styles and every color you can think of, however I personally own this one below by Mango. I love the red white and blue hues and it gives all my black outfits a pop of color.

Jewelry

This season we are really stepping away from minimalism and stepping towards a more bold direction. To be honest, I’m digging it. The trends once popular during the pandemic times (minimal everything) are finally fading away. This season expect to see bold statements and materials such as large beaded necklaces made of resin, natural and glass beads. Also think volume hoops with abstract details. Chunky layered bangles and pendant necklaces are also making a splash. Speaking of splash nautical elements like pearls and shells are also huge this season. Here are some of my favorites below:

I personally love and own these shell and pearl drop earrings from Zara. When I first saw them, it brought me back to a memory of my stylish mom in the 90s rocking Liz Claiborne jewelry. These earrings are giving “Spring/Summer 1994”. Another favorite of mine and personally owned are the gold starfish earrings from Mango. Even Ariel herself would rock these…

Large Florals

I’m not joking when I say the bigger the flower the better! All of the above can be found on Zara.com

Mixed Metals but not Mixed feelings

There is a resurgence of mixed metals and I’m here for it. Sometimes I want to wear gold, sometimes I would prefer silver. Now you don’t have to think and can easily style this trend into everyday wear. All above are my top picks from Zara.com.
